Ashley Bench

Ashley teaches Power Vinyasa style classes. This is a very athletic form of yoga designed to challenge the body as well as the mind. She has studied with Barron Baptiste at both level I and level II teacher trainings, as well as the assistant training program, and has been teaching yoga for over two years. Ashley’s classes are secular, open to all levels, and adaptable for those with physical injuries or limitations. So whether you have been practicing for years, or are just looking to yoga for the first time, this class is for you!

“I attended a yoga class at the local YMCA one day just to try something new. I had no expectations, nor did I have any real idea what it was all about. After that one class I knew I needed to have yoga in my everyday life. Every practice is a chance to heal and transform ourselves…a wonderful vehicle to help us stay healthy and conscious along life’s path. After about a year and a half of dedicated practice, I realized I wanted to share this experience by teaching. I find great joy in seeing and helping others use this wonderful tool that yoga is!”

Ashley grew up in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. She moved to Portland Maine in 2000 to attended Maine College of Art, graduating in 2004 with a BFA focused in ceramic sculpture and pottery. Ashley is still very active in her art work, creating both functional and sculpture work out of her studio in Portland’s east end.
