I am so very grateful to all those who have given me guidance and support on my yoga journey, my teachers-yoga instructors, family, friends, and students! I feel so fortunate to have found yoga and hope to continue my path of practicing and teaching to spread the light and love yoga truly brings to ones life!
I grew up on Cliff Island, a small island in Maine. This is where I was first introduced to the ideas of The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga by Deepak Chopra. Although as a child I was unaware of this, I can see now that it is truly where my conscious awareness of yoga first began. These principles, such as pure potential, giving and receiving, karma, and dharma (purpose in life), began to profoundly shape my life. This is also where my passion for helping others developed. I received my BSW from Syracuse University and my MSW from Boston University. I am currently a child and family therapist through which I continue to be in awe of the strong connection between mind, body, and spirit.
I took my first yoga class at Prana Power Yoga in Massachusetts in 2001 and I was immediately hooked! I can say without hesitation that yoga has transformed my life! I was captain of the SU crew team and athleticism has always been important to me. I was first drawn to the physical asanas. However, as I continued to practice I found my discipline shifting and my practice went from once a week to daily …which is when all the “good stuff” began! The transformation is truly magical! I began to look inside myself to find a greater acceptance and happiness. I moved back to Portland, Maine in 2006 while completing my yoga teacher certification through Prana Power Yoga under the inspirational guidance of Taylor and Philippe Wells. As I continue on my yogic path I find my passion for sharing this magic with others continues to grow. While being mindful or my dharma I feel honored to spread the healing power and the many gifts yoga brings to ones life!
