Jennifer Micoleau
Jennifer, a Portland native, began a dedicated yoga practice while living in Arizona in 2002.
In 2004, she earned a 330 hr teaching certification in North Carolina with a focus on Hatha Yoga and the principles of alignment. Prior to this she studied Polarity Therapy (energy bodywork), Pilates and nutrition. She is an experienced artist using her knowledge of anatomy and movement to incorporate a moving stillness into ceramic sculptures and hand-built pottery. She is currently working towards a second bachelor’s degree (BFA) in graphic design at Maine College of Art and expects to graduate in May. Jennifer has a passion for health and a fascination for the human body, which has led her to studies in human development, anatomy, sociology, Buddhism and meditation and their interplay. Yoga is the web that weaves together the threads of her passions and her desire to help empower others to make positive, healthy and successful changes in their lives. Jennifer’s class description - Yoga for all levels
Free your body, free your mind: Yoga cleanses the body of mental stress, muscular tension and structural and energetic misalignment making room for creative flow. Breathe deeper, move easier, improve your ability to concentrate on what is truly important to you. Be the change you seek.
I teach the basics: how your body works; how to let your body work for you; how to breath; how to relax; how to live with intention—essential health. Flexible muscles are not a pre-requisite. A flexible mind is.
Because your body and state of mind are never the same, neither are my classes. I respond to each moment and to your needs and desires within that moment. My role is to teach you safe alignment and get your body moving. The pace and effort level is up to you.
